50 suicides linked to break-ups

50 recent suicides in the county of Kent, UK, alone have been linked to relationship break-ups.

This was one of many frightening statistics highlighted in this year’s Bridget Lindley Memorial Lecture: Time for Climate Change in the Family Justice System.

The lecture, this year, was given by Helen Adam, mediator and Chair of the Family Solutions Group. With the backing of the President of the Family Division, Sir Andrew McFarlane, this organisation, along with the Two Wishes Foundation, has led the way in advocating for a fresh approach to family separation. We need to keep families out of family courts and avoid the great harm to children, parents and other family members of our current, law-based approach.
