AU$220 billion/year mental health cost
A new report by Australia’s Productivity Commission at last puts a price tag on the cost of mental health issues, including self-harm and suicide. It comes in at a staggering AU$220 billion/year (US$160 billion/year).
“The biggest barrier for me was not knowing who or where to go to,” Divra Krishnan said. “And when I did seek that help and didn’t receive it, that was really discouraging.”
