While scientific evidence is essential for creating evidence-based policies, it’s often art that provides the emotional engagement that deepens understanding and motivates action in those who’ve not otherwise had experiences of their own. Watch a 2-minute film from Iran, a play from the UK, a song from the USA, or a full-length feature film from Germany. Each, in its own way, tells a powerful story – of compassion or sorrow or of the intricacies of family life and how to make decisions when parents move apart. Together, they build a compelling argument for change – for a more compassionate, understanding and humane approach to a universal issue: how do we best look after children when the nature of their families changes. - [Videos](https://twowishes.org/category/videos/) - [World](https://twowishes.org/category/world/) - [Get Involved](https://twowishes.org/category/get-involved/) - Helping create change Please, get involved! Wherever you are, whatever you do, you can help us create the changes needed to help protect children in some of our most vulnerable families. Especially in the aftermath of COVID-19, many families around the world are under extreme emotional and financial stress. Now, of all times, our families need greater support and compassion. If you’d like to become involved with the work of the Two Wishes Foundation, please contact us anytime. We need help with research, fund-raising and a wide range of activities that anyone can contribute to. We also need people to write to their local newspapers and political representatives to help motivate change: governments around the world need to put Child and Family Wellbeing at the top of their priorities at all times, not only in a public health crisis that’s obvious to everyone. We need policies that pro-actively help children and their families, not just policies for reacting and intervening when it’s too late. Education and early intervention are so much better than trying to repair damage that’s already been done; prevention is so much better (not to mention, so much cheaper) than cure. Politicians, legislators, and other decision-makers need to hear from everyone if they’re to act and make the changes our kids and families so desperately need. Throughout this site, you’ll find the evidence and solutions that decision-makers need to hear. So, please share what you can – on social media, in mainstream media and with key influencers and decision-makers who can really make a difference. Thank you. - [Evidence](https://twowishes.org/category/evidence/) - Discovering what’s best for kids In few, if any, parts of the world is our approach to family breakdown, or to dealing with families in crisis, based on actual scientific evidence of what’s best for children and families. Too often, we impose too-late ‘interventions’ instead of offering up-front, accessible support and education. Far too often, these interventions are based on a legal approach – family law – which is not the appropriate tool if we’re aiming to look after the health and wellbeing of our children. In fact, not only are such legal interventions too late and not appropriate, but, they’re actually harmful to the very children and families they’re supposed to protect. In this section, Evidence, you can access a wide range of information, including the results of some of the best scientific research from around the globe. We will review the available research and data and tell you what statistics you can rely on. In a field often dominated by ideology rather than scientific evidence – by actively promoted ‘fake news’, if you will – we’ll try to help sort the wheat from the chaff. If you know of better evidence, or more recent research, you’re welcome to share it with us too. - [Family Court](https://twowishes.org/category/family-court/) - [Programs](https://twowishes.org/category/2040-vision/programs/) - [Professionals](https://twowishes.org/category/support/professionals/) - [Parents](https://twowishes.org/category/support/parents/) - [Young people](https://twowishes.org/category/support/young-people/) - [Help](https://twowishes.org/category/support/) - [Children](https://twowishes.org/category/support/children/) - [Australia](https://twowishes.org/category/world/australia/) - [USA](https://twowishes.org/category/world/usa/) - [Solutions](https://twowishes.org/category/2040-vision/solutions/) - [2040 Vision](https://twowishes.org/category/2040-vision/) - Reimagining the future Two Wishes has a vision where all children are able to enjoy their childhood and free to develop the best possible relationships with all who love and care for them, whatever changes life brings to their families. From the evidence presented throughout this site – the science, the art and the lived-experiences of young people – the case for a fresh approach to the issue of family breakdown is clear. Fortunately, many of the solutions already exist, in some form or another, somewhere around the globe. In this section, we bring together some of these best examples of education; better, more accessible support for families; early interventions; pilot schemes; and programs that, together, provide a very different approach to looking after some of our most vulnerable families from the damaging, often uncompassionate, approaches accepted today in so many countries. It requires us to do nothing less than “reimagine family breakdown” if we are to ensure that children are not harmed, as they so often are today, when families transition or change. In fact, it requires us almost to “reimagine family” – as a living network of interconnected and loving relationships with a child at its centre. We call this our “2040 vision” because we are realistic. We realise that learning to treat family breakdown primarily as a health, not a legal, issue will not happen overnight. Indeed, it may take many years for such a paradigm shift to take place in just one or two countries. But, once the benefits are seen, others will follow. Everyone can help. By sharing information from this site and helping others understand the urgent need for major change, for the sake of all our kids, you can help us make sure that our 2040 arrives as early as possible. - [Belgium](https://twowishes.org/category/world/belgium/) - [Sweden](https://twowishes.org/category/world/sweden/) - [UK](https://twowishes.org/category/world/uk/) - [Germany](https://twowishes.org/category/world/germany/) - [About](https://twowishes.org/category/about/) - [Two Wishes](https://twowishes.org/category/two-wishes/) - [People](https://twowishes.org/category/about/people/) - [Family](https://twowishes.org/category/family/) - [Voices](https://twowishes.org/category/voices/) - [Policy](https://twowishes.org/category/2040-vision/policy/) - [Court Reform](https://twowishes.org/category/2040-vision/court-reform/) - [Israel](https://twowishes.org/category/world/israel/) - [Blog](https://twowishes.org/category/blog/) - [Reform](https://twowishes.org/category/family-court/reform-family-court/) - [Rating](https://twowishes.org/category/rating/) - [⭐⭐⭐](https://twowishes.org/category/rating/⭐⭐⭐/) - [⭐⭐](https://twowishes.org/category/rating/⭐⭐/) - [⭐](https://twowishes.org/category/rating/⭐/) - [⭐⭐⭐⭐](https://twowishes.org/category/rating/⭐⭐⭐⭐/) - [Iran](https://twowishes.org/category/world/iran/) - [Play](https://twowishes.org/category/art/play/) - [Movie](https://twowishes.org/category/art/movie/) - [Short film](https://twowishes.org/category/art/short-film/) - [TV ad](https://twowishes.org/category/art/tv-ad/) - [Factual film](https://twowishes.org/category/art/factual-film/) - [Factual TV](https://twowishes.org/category/art/factual-tv/) - [Song](https://twowishes.org/category/art/song/) - [Education](https://twowishes.org/category/2040-vision/education/) - [Romania](https://twowishes.org/category/world/romania/) - [Voices](https://twowishes.org/category/evidence/voices-evidence/) - [Science](https://twowishes.org/category/evidence/science/) - [First Nations](https://twowishes.org/category/first-nations/) - [India](https://twowishes.org/category/world/india/) - [Pakistan](https://twowishes.org/category/world/pakistan-world/) - [Greece](https://twowishes.org/category/world/greece/) - [Ukraine](https://twowishes.org/category/world/ukraine/) - [Norway](https://twowishes.org/category/world/norway-world/) - [Malta](https://twowishes.org/category/world/malta/) - [Media](https://twowishes.org/category/news/media/) - [Opinion](https://twowishes.org/category/opinion/) - [Europe](https://twowishes.org/category/world/europe/) - [Scotland](https://twowishes.org/category/world/scotland/) - [China](https://twowishes.org/category/world/china/) - [New Zealand](https://twowishes.org/category/world/new-zealand/) - [History](https://twowishes.org/category/evidence/history/) ## Tags - [parental care](https://twowishes.org/tag/parental-care/) - [paternal care](https://twowishes.org/tag/paternal-care/) - [anthropology](https://twowishes.org/tag/anthropology/)
